Privacy Policy

Overview

BoatForms is an offline-first mobile and web application for generating boat title transfer documents. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app handles, how it is stored, and what control you have over it.

What Data the App Collects

BoatForms collects only the information you enter directly into the app to fill out government title transfer forms. This may include:

  • Names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of buyers and sellers
  • Driver's license numbers and dates of birth
  • Vessel information (HIN, make, model, year, registration numbers)
  • Sale price, transaction date, and lien holder details

We do not collect data beyond what you type into the form fields. There is no background data collection, device fingerprinting, or behavioral tracking.

How Your Data Is Stored

All data you enter is stored locally on your device only. BoatForms uses an on-device SQLite database with application-level encryption for sensitive fields such as driver's license numbers, dates of birth, phone numbers, email addresses, and lien account numbers. Generated PDF documents are also stored locally on your device.

Your data is never transmitted to BoatForms servers. We do not operate a backend database that stores your personal information.

What We Don't Do

  • We do not use analytics or tracking services (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Sentry, etc.)
  • We do not display advertisements
  • We do not share, sell, or transmit your data to third parties
  • We do not require user accounts or login credentials
  • We do not collect device location, contacts, camera, or microphone data

Data Sharing

Data only leaves your device when you explicitly choose to share it using the app's built-in Share, Email, or Print functions. These actions use your device's native operating system features (email client, share sheet, print dialog), and BoatForms has no visibility into or control over where you send the documents.

PDF Form Downloads

The app downloads blank government form templates (e.g., the SC BTR-1) from official state government websites. No personal information is sent during these downloads — only the blank form PDF is fetched.

Deleting Your Data

You can delete individual profiles and transactions from within the app at any time. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data, including the database and generated PDFs. Since no data is stored on our servers, there is nothing to request deletion of remotely.

Children's Privacy

BoatForms is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
